Skin cancers of the ear

Updated: May 6, 2022

We looked at our cohort of squamous cell cancers (SCC) of the ear (a high risk site) and showed how in our patient demographic the risk of spread was limited.

SCC is a type of skin cancer that has the ability to spread to other parts of the body (metastasise)

SCC of the pinna (outer ear) has metastatic potential in many data sets. We proved that our group of patients remain at low risk of spread and can be safely kept under surveillance without recourse to further treatments. Thus limiting the need for further surgery or radiotherapy.
